Island Water Sports is a family owned and operated marine recreation business established in 1988. We operate water sports charters, group tubing, back bay cruises, an inflatable aqua park, and kayak and paddleboard rentals out of Stone Harbor, NJ.

Information We Collect

We keep data collection minimal. When you book a reservation or contact us, we may collect:

• Name — to identify your reservation
• Email address — to send booking confirmations and updates
• Phone number — to reach you about reservation changes, weather cancellations, or arrival logistics
• Reservation details — date, time, group size, activity selected
• Communications — emails, text messages, or form submissions you send to us
• Waiver information (collected in person at our dock) — name and age of each participant, signed by the participant or their parent/guardian. Waivers are stored as paper records on site and are not collected through our website.

We do not collect or store payment card information. See the Payments section below.

How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

• Confirm, modify, or cancel your reservation
• Contact you about weather-related changes or operational updates
• Respond to inquiries and customer service requests
• Send occasional marketing emails about seasonal offerings, events, or news (we save only your name and email for this purpose — you can unsubscribe at any time)
• Improve our website and services
• Comply with legal obligations

We do not sell your personal information. We do not share your information with third parties for their own marketing purposes.

Payments

Payments are processed by Square, Inc. We never see or store your credit card number, expiration date, or security code. To confirm a reservation, Square authorizes a $1 booking fee on your card on our behalf. Your full payment details remain on Square’s servers and are subject to Square’s privacy policy.

Text Messages (SMS)

We use Twilio to send reservation confirmations and operational updates via text message. By providing your phone number, you consent to receive transactional text messages from us. Standard message and data rates may apply. You can reply STOP to any message to opt out of further texts at any time. Opting out of SMS does not affect your reservation — we will reach you by phone or email instead.

Service Providers

We work with trusted third-party service providers who help us operate our business. They only have access to the information needed to perform their services and are obligated to protect it:

• Square — payment processing
• Twilio — SMS reservation confirmations
• WP Engine — website hosting
• Email marketing platforms (such as Mailchimp) — may be used to send marketing emails to subscribers
• Google Workspace — business email

Cookies, Analytics, and Tracking

Our website may use cookies, web beacons, pixels, and similar technologies to operate the site and understand how visitors use it. This may include:

• Essential cookies required for the website to function (such as WordPress session cookies)
• Analytics tools (such as Google Analytics) that help us understand site traffic and improve user experience
• Advertising and retargeting pixels (such as Meta Pixel) that may be used to show our ads to people who have visited our website
• Email marketing tracking pixels that tell us whether a marketing email was opened or clicked

These tools may collect information such as your IP address, browser type, device information, pages visited, and referring website. You can disable cookies in your browser settings; some site features may not work correctly if you do.

We do not respond to “Do Not Track” browser signals at this time.

Server Logs

Our web host (WP Engine) automatically logs technical information about visits to our site, including IP addresses, browser types, and timestamps, for security and performance purposes. These logs are retained according to WP Engine’s standard practices and are not used for marketing.

Photos and Video on Premises

Island Water Sports operates in public spaces — our dock, our boats, and our aqua park. During normal operations, we and our staff may take photographs or video that include guests, and we may use these images in our marketing materials, including on our website and social media accounts. Our booking terms include notice that photos and video may be taken on site. If you do not wish to appear in marketing photos or video, please let our staff know at check-in and we will accommodate your request.

Children’s Privacy

Our website is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children online. All reservations are made by an adult (typically a parent or guardian), and waivers for minor participants are filled out in person at our dock by the parent or guardian. If you believe we have inadvertently collected personal information from a child under 13 through our website, please contact us at Tom@islandwatersportsnj.com and we will delete it promptly.

Your Rights and Choices

You have the right to:

• Access the personal information we hold about you
• Correct any inaccurate information
• Delete your personal information from our records
• Opt out of marketing emails (use the unsubscribe link in any marketing email)
• Opt out of SMS messages (reply STOP)
• Request a copy of the information we hold about you

If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) gives you additional rights, including:

Data Retention

We keep your information only as long as needed for the purposes described in this Policy. Reservation records are retained for tax, accounting, and operational purposes (typically seven years). Marketing email addresses are retained until you unsubscribe. Waivers are retained as required by our insurance policy.

Security

We take reasonable steps to protect your information. However, no method of transmission over the internet is completely secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security but we work to safeguard your data using industry-standard practices.

Third-Party Links

Our website may link to third-party websites (such as Island Aqua Park, social media platforms, or partner businesses). This Policy does not apply to those sites. We encourage you to read the privacy policies of any website you visit.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last Updated” date at the top of this Policy. Material changes will be communicated more prominently, such as by email or a notice on our website.
